Ohio Canal Way (overall trail )
History, the beauty of nature, and an option of only having to bicycle one direction for 26 mile of this 110 mile crush stone trail. The seven train boarding stations offer $3 specials for bicyclists. The Northern most train boarding station is the Rockside Canal Visitor Center and the southern most station is the Akron Northside Station.
The northern portion of the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area has a canal historical museum, and working canal lock. The Brecksville portion of the trail is within the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area, which runs within Cuyahoga county (Cleveland area), and Summit County (Akron).
The photograph to the right is a foundation to an aquaduct, which allowed canal boats to float across a "bridge" holding canal water which was well above the height of the river below.
Pictured below is the Brecksville City Park entry point which is a central entry point within Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation portion of the trail. This City Park is located just east of Brecksville, Ohio on State Route 82 (on Chippiwa Rd.) The entrance to the park is located immediately west of the large bridge which is pictured in the photo.
